All the way down!
Scrolling screenshot: the whole page in one image
Web pages, emails and documents are often longer than the screen. A normal screenshot only shows what is visible right now. With Screenshot 42 you take a long screenshot on Windows and Mac: the program scrolls to the end by itself and stitches everything into one image.

- 1 · start a captureWith your key, by default Ctrl + Alt + S, on the Mac ⌃⌥S.
- 2 · key SOr click “Scroll” in the toolbar at the top.
- 3 · click the spotThe page, email or column that should scroll. The program does the rest.
- 4 · EnterThe long image is on the clipboard. Or one click on your folder saves it as a PNG.
We scroll to the end of the page. Not to the end of the universe.
What the long screenshot can do
- Whole web pages in any browser, plus emails, chats and documents: anywhere you can scroll with the mouse wheel.
- Only the right column: if you click into an email next to the mail list, the program sees at the first scroll which part moves and captures only that.
- Fixed headers only once: whatever stays put while scrolling, such as subject and sender, appears once at the top of the image.
- Exactly your area: select an area yourself and click the scroll icon in the toolbar. Then exactly your selection is used.
Working in the long image
Use the mouse wheel or Page Up and Page Down to move through the whole image; the right edge shows where you are. Circles, arrows, text, pixelating: everything works as in a normal screenshot. Cut away browser bars at the top with “Crop”; the top edge snaps exactly to the fixed header.
Good to know
- Leave the mouse and windows alone during the capture. The program moves the mouse pointer itself and puts it back afterwards.
- Esc stops early and keeps what has been captured so far.
- A long image ends at 30,000 pixels in height at the latest. The program lets you know.
- If something else moves while scrolling, such as a video or an ad, the capture ends at that point. What has been captured so far is kept.
- On the Mac the program needs the “Accessibility” permission once, because it turns the mouse wheel for this.
